Behind the Brand

In addition to being the founder of dumb., I am also the mother of two teenage daughters. So, I relate wholeheartedly to many of you who share your stories of the seemingly endless struggles that our children face on a daily basis. Sadly, many of these challenges are borne of unnecessary and destructive anti-social behavior, attitudes, and pressure from peers. To make matters worse, there is an acceleration and exacerbation of the problems due to the delivery devices of smart phones and social media platforms.

Jeff James is a capital and social entrepreneur, technology strategist, and published children’s book author. His passion is supporting projects and programs that grow communities, challenge personal growth, and build technological solutions for the human good. Jeff is also an investor and board member of several successful organizations, including app development, marketing and sales consulting, sports data analytics, and outdoor gear. It seems a pursuit of life’s worthwhile experiences and admirable deeds is what can help our children and our communities get back on course. dumb.’s four points of diversity, unity, morality, and beauty are the compass. We have committed to practice the dumb. philosophy on a daily basis. We challenge our children with, “What did you do dumb. today?” It can be as simple as sitting with a lonely kid at lunch to volunteering for recycling projects. But there is always something “dumb.” to do.  Our goal is to help other families, schools, and neighborhoods do the same: to have a positive impact on their lives and in their community for meaningful impact in our world.
